Isuzu UTE Donates to Red Cross Floods Appeal

15 March 2022

Following the recent devastation caused by floods ravaging across regions of QLD and NSW, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has joined the effort to provide some reprieve for those affected.

On Saturday, 12th of March, television Networks Seven, Nine and Ten, all joined forces with the Australian Red Cross to raise additional funds at the ‘Australia Unites: Australian Red Cross Flood Appeal’ Telethon. During the Telethon, IUA pledged $100,000 and auctioned off an Isuzu D-MAX 4x4 LS-U+ Ute that sold for $79,000; with proceeds donated in full to the Floods Appeal.

“With much of QLD and NSW impacted by these recent floods, my thoughts and well wishes go out to those who have been affected, I hope you continue to stay safe and can recover from these devastations as quickly as possible,” said Isuzu UTE Australia Managing Director, Hiroyasu Sato.

“In times like these, it is encouraging to see the whole country come together in support of those who need our help and to rally behind charities like the Australian Red Cross who can further provide the help that is needed.”

“Isuzu UTE Australia is honoured to help where we can and encourage other Australians to do the same,” he said.

Red Cross helps provide immediate relief to those who need it most. Thanks to the generosity of Australians, including our own support, $25.2million was raised in the Telethon. 100% of this is going to people impacted by the floods and fundraising efforts are continuing. The sheer number of people impacted is enormous and Red Cross is paying grants of $500 to an estimated 57,500 households from Monday 21 March 2022. This link provides an update on the status of how the money is being distributed. This is on top of the more than $631 million in disaster payments from Government. Red Cross is playing its part, as are we, in a much larger response.

Red Cross has also had 516 people on the ground – registering and reuniting family members, providing psychosocial support and assisting in evacuation centres, recovery hubs and outreach locations. They’ve helped 29,543 people across the two states. We know the recovery journey will be long and complex. Red Cross will continue to play a pivotal role in supporting the needs of communities in doing this.

You can watch this 60 second video explaining Red Cross work on the ground.

Thank you to the emergency services and volunteers who are on the ground working day and night for their extraordinary efforts.
